Alorica Settles EEOC Sexual Harassment Lawsuit FOR $3.5 Million

Sexual Harassment

Male and Female Employees were Subjected to Harassment, Says Federal Agency.

According to today’s EEOC Press Release, A consent decree was approved by the U.S. District Court between the EEOC and Alorica Inc.  The decree is an early settlement and calls for a 3.5-million-dollar payout and remedial measures to resolve the sexual harassment lawsuit.

Alorica is a global firm based in Orange County, CA that employs more than 100,000 workers across 16 different countries providing customer service solutions for mostly fortune 500 companies in the U.S. and across the globe.

The lawsuit involved offices in Fresno and Clovis and involved sexual harassment of both male and female workers by management and coworkers.  According to the EEOC press release, the harassment included a sexually hostile work environment where the local HR staff failed to respond in a lawful and appropriate manner to the repeated complaints made repeatedly by employees, violating Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

The monies will be distributed among the victims of sexual harassment from the local Fresno and Clovis facilities.  Alorica will also be required to hire a third-party monitor; create an internal equal opportunity consultant and a compliance officer; and will provide sexual harassment training that includes civility and bystander intervention for employees.

Bringing this case to a positive resolution took the joint efforts of the employers that had been harassed, EEOC’s legal and enforcement teams, and Alorica.  While it is easy to demonize the companies that face accusations of sexual harassment within their offices and ranks, the EEOC’s regional attorney for the Los Angeles District recognized that Alorica played an important role in the resolution of the case by working with the EEOC to create and implement measures to create a safe and respectful work environment at Alorica.

If you believe you were subjected to sexual harassment while working at Alorica in Fresno and Clovis between August 2014 and now, please call the EEOC at 1-855-725-4456.
